Eczema is a common skin disease globally; Prevalence is about 10% in infants and 3% in adult population. The word “eczema” means, a group of conditions that causes inflamed, irritated, and often itchy skin.
Vicharchika, explained in Ayurveda is a clinical condition which can be co-related to eczema. It is a disease characterized by skin rashes that associated with redness, swelling, itching, dryness, and flaking. Rashes are usually seen in the creases of elbow or knees, neck, wrist and ankles. The rashes may be light or dark in colour and sometimes the skin may become thickened.
Causes of Eczema:
Since this is a deep-seated condition, Panchakarma is necessary in the beginning, followed by internal medicines and external applications. Rasayanas will be given to nourish the skin and to prevent the remission.

Vitiligo or Leucoderma is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) in the skin are destroyed leading to white spots on the skin. The white spots can appear on the skin, hair, mucous membranes and the retina. It can begin at any age, and is, common in women when compared to men. The patches can be, mostly seen on the lips, face, hands, behind the ears and legs etc. It is sometimes associated with, or is secondary to hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus, and pernicious anaemia.
In Ayurveda it is mentioned as Shwitra or kilasa which is caused by indulging in viruddha Ahaara(incompatible foods), day time sleep, suppression of urges, excessive intake of sour, salt, sweet and pungent foods etc.

Urticaria is one of the most common allergic skin conditions. These group of allergic conditions are known as Sheeta-pitta, Udarda in Ayurveda. The lesions appear and resolve sometimes on its own. Though it is not a serious condition, it can hinder day to day activities.
